Thomas Carta

Man speaking into a microphone, wearing a green shirt and yellow tie with cross.

I am a lover of Jesus who uses the sport of wrestling as a platform to spread the message of the Gospel to our youth, our community, and to those around me. Although I believe all sports do a wonderful job creating great characteristics for student athletes to become better people, I believe that the sport of wrestling does this at the highest level. In addition, I believe wrestling is the greatest sport to emulate living a Christ-like life with the natural occurrences that come with this sport.

I wrestled and played football from kindergarten through high school in upstate New York, following in my two older brothers' footsteps. I then went on to wrestle in college at Roger Williams University, an NCAA DIII school in Bristol, Rhode Island. I graduated college with a bachelors in Construction Management, and soon moved to Bowling Green, KY after family members had moved here years before.

In 2018 we established the SOKY Wrestling Club, which was the first wrestling club that was brought to the Warren County/Bowling Green area. This club was created to introduce the sport of wrestling to South Central KY with the hopes of growing the sport in and around our community. In 2020, we had grown enough for Warren County Public Schools to adopt wrestling as a varsity sport in their schools. The first few years, our 4

WCPS high schools practiced and traveled together for matches and tournaments. Gaining more wrestlers with each year that past, by the 2025-2026 season, we had grown enough for each of the WCPS middle and high schools to have their own separate teams at their given school with their own coaching staff. We are proud to say that, each middle and high school in WCPS now has their own boys middle school team, girls' varsity team, and boys' varsity team.

The Guardian Wrestling Club has been created to allow for a year-round wrestling opportunity for, not only the Warren County/Bowling Green community members, but for all surrounding areas community members as well. Helping to grow wrestling as a whole creates better all-around wrestlers and athletes which raises the level of competition and standards for all. That, in turn, helps create human beings who live an above average life style, who live to serve others, and who have a heart full of the love and joy of Jesus Christ.

My overall goal as a coach is to, help our athletes start, grow, and continue a relationship with Jesus, and to help them become the best version of themself in every aspect of their life. I believe that, within this approach, great wrestling results will happen as a biproduct of the lifestyle and philosophy that the wrestler buys into.
